Angat Buhay assists over 50,000 storm victims through extensive relief operations

The Angat Buhay Foundation, led by former Vice President Leni Robredo, has stepped up to support over 50,000 Filipinos affected by severe tropical storm “Kristine.” In collaboration with local networks, particularly across Southern Luzon, the foundation is distributing hot meals, providing essential supplies, and coordinating search and rescue operations.

“We work closely with our Angat Bayanihan Volunteer network and local civil society groups every time disaster strikes,” said Angat Buhay Executive Director Raphael Magno in ANC’s “Dateline Philippines”. “We support, amplify calls for help, and boost supplies to ensure their communities’ needs are met.”

Magno highlighted that the foundation’s efforts extend beyond typical relief, explaining they have been mobilizing rescue boats and pump boats to reach isolated communities still submerged in floodwaters. “It’s heartbreaking,” he shared, “to see families stranded on rooftops, waiting for aid days after the storm.”

Robredo’s hands-on approach has drawn widespread praise, with photos showing her wading through floodwaters to reach affected residents. “This is characteristic of her leadership,” Magno noted, emphasizing her active role in the foundation’s operations. “She’s always been hands-on, showing the kind of solidarity that builds stronger communities.”

Magno added that the foundation is still gathering data from various volunteer groups to assess the full impact of the assistance provided. Those interested in supporting the foundation’s ongoing relief work can donate or volunteer at the “Museo ng Pag-asa,” which remains open around the clock.
