All you need to know about the newly-opened OFW Lounge at NAIA T1

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 has unveiled a new facility dedicated to enhancing the travel experience of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The OFW Lounge is a project spearheaded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa).

Here’s everything you need to know about this new haven for OFWs at NAIA T1:

Location and Accessibility

The OFW Lounge is strategically located at NAIA Terminal 1 in Parañaque City, making it easily accessible for departing and arriving OFWs. The lounge is open to all OFWs who can simply identify themselves by stating, “I am an OFW,” granting them entry into this exclusive space.

Facilities and Services

Owwa Administrator Arnell Ignacio emphasized the ‘VIP’ treatment that awaits OFWs at the lounge. The facilities include:

  • Unlimited Food and Beverages: OFWs can enjoy unlimited coffee and a selection of snacks and refreshments, providing a comfortable space to relax before their flight.
  • Comfortable Seating: The lounge is equipped with comfortable seating arrangements, allowing OFWs to rest and unwind.
  • Wi-Fi Access: Understanding the need to stay connected, the lounge provides free Wi-Fi access to all its visitors.
  • Charging Docks and Power Outlets: OFWs can easily charge their electronic devices, ensuring they are powered up and ready for their journey.

Concept and Vision

The concept behind the OFW Lounge is rooted in Owwa’s commitment to providing special treatment to OFWs. Arnell Ignacio stated, “It is about time we treat them like true VIPs.” The lounge is not just a physical space but a symbol of the nation’s gratitude and respect for the sacrifices and contributions of its overseas workers.

Future Plans

The establishment of the OFW Lounge at NAIA Terminal 1 is just the beginning. Owwa has plans to replicate this initiative in other airports across the country, aiming to provide a standardized level of comfort and recognition for OFWs wherever they may be traveling.
