All airlines successfully relocate to Abu Dhabi’s new Terminal A

Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) has ushered in a new chapter in its aviation history with the full operational shift of 28 airlines to its newly inaugurated Terminal A. The airport operator announced on Wednesday that Terminal A is now the primary hub for AUH, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s development.

The state-of-the-art Terminal A boasts an impressive capacity to process up to 45 million travelers annually and can simultaneously accommodate 79 aircraft. This expansion is set to notably boost the airport’s operational capability.

December is anticipated to be a bustling month at Terminal A, with over 2.29 million passengers expected to travel through the terminal on 12,220 flights. The terminal has already witnessed significant activity in the first half of November, with 1,557 flights, and projections indicate that the total count for November will exceed 7,600 flights.

Elena Sorlini, the managing director and interim CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, expressed her enthusiasm about the transition. “With all airlines now operating from Terminal A, I’m pleased to announce a new era for operations at Abu Dhabi International Airport,” she said. Sorlini highlighted the terminal’s advanced facilities and its role in enhancing passenger experiences and supporting the expansion of international airlines in Abu Dhabi.

The official opening ceremony for Terminal A is scheduled for February 9, 2024. Following this event, Abu Dhabi International Airport will undergo a renaming to Zayed International Airport, in honor of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
