Abu Dhabi’s taxi services have embraced digital transformation by integrating Alipay+ as a payment method, enhancing convenience and safety for commuters. The service, announced by the transport authority, allows passengers to easily pay their fares through the Alipay+ application, a move aimed at diversifying payment options.
The process is straightforward: upon reaching their destination, passengers can have the driver scan a QR code on the POS devices to initiate payment. Confirmation of the transaction by both parties triggers notifications, ensuring a secure and user-friendly experience.
This integration is the result of a collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, fintech innovator PayBy, and other strategic partners, bringing the service to the entire taxi fleet across the emirate. With Alipay+ boasting a global user base of over 1.4 billion across ten electronic wallets, the service caters especially to tourists who predominantly rely on digital payments.
Furthermore, Alipay+ offers versatility by allowing credit card users to link their cards for taxi fare transactions. For those without credit cards, recharging electronic wallets is possible via online bank cards or cash at designated kiosks.
