Alice Guo identified as Chinese spy by former prisoner

A former Chinese cellmate of She Zhijiang, a self-confessed Chinese spy, revealed new insights into Chinese espionage activities during a Zoom interview with the Philippine Senate panel on women, chaired by Sen. Risa Hontiveros. Wang Fu Gui, who shared prison time with She, disclosed details regarding another alleged Chinese spy, Alice Guo.

Wang described Guo as “a spy, but not a special one,” during the interview. He mentioned that he uncovered Guo’s classified documents while handling She’s declassified matters. Guo’s espionage activities were allegedly linked to Chinese State Security.

“The content of the declassified file kept by Mr. She is large, and I only have declassified a portion under his authorization. She was a spy, but not a special one,” Wang explained.

When pressed by Hontiveros on whether Guo’s involvement with Chinese espionage began during her childhood or after she became the mayor of Bamban, Wang revealed, “Her campaign itself was arranged by Chinese state security.”

Wang also provided insights into the recruitment methods employed by Chinese State Security, explaining that field agents often have detailed background checks. “There are also special hacking teams and hometown associations in charge of overseas information collection,” he said.

The Senate panel’s revelations came after a failed attempt to interview She directly through the Philippine embassy in Thailand, due to diplomatic restrictions. She, currently under surveillance in Thai prisons, is reportedly willing to cooperate with the Philippine government and insists he has not harmed the Filipino people.
