Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo have been named the Box Office King and Queen at the Box Office Entertainment Awards. The ceremony took place at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo De Manila University on Sunday, May 12.
Richards received the Box Office King title for his role in the 2023 romance drama “Five Breakups and A Romance”, where he starred alongside Julia Montes. Bernardo was awarded the Box Office Queen for her performance in “A Very Good Girl”, featuring Dolly De Leon.
A notable moment from the ceremony was when Richards helped Bernardo on stage, holding her hand as she descended the stairs to accept her award. This gesture, along with Richards kissing Bernardo’s hand, went viral online.
The duo had previously led the cast of the 2019 hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, which was the highest-grossing Filipino movie until it was surpassed by “Rewind” earlier this year, starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
