Akbayan Partylist is celebrating a remarkable comeback in the 2025 partylist race, securing over 2.2 million votes nationwide as of 10:54 AM—an achievement that marks a significant leap from their narrow victory in 2022. This vote count is more than double their tally in 2010, solidifying their resurgence in the political landscape.
In a statement, Akbayan emphasized that this victory is not just a return but a decisive step toward a “new kind of politics” driven by integrity, solidarity, and compassion. “This is more than a comeback; it is a bold step toward a new kind of politics. It is the people’s resounding answer to the politics of cynicism and despair,” the group declared.
The partylist also extended its congratulations to key progressive leaders who have made significant strides in the 2025 elections, including senatorial candidates Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino, ML Partylist nominee Leila de Lima, Naga City Mayor-elect Leni Robredo, and Senator Risa Hontiveros.
Akbayan expressed its commitment to working alongside these leaders to form a new democratic and reform bloc in Congress and the Senate, advocating for the people’s rights, welfare, and the defense of national sovereignty and democracy.
