Ajman Police announced a 50% reduction on traffic fines for violations committed in the emirate before October 31, available from November 4 to December 15, 2024. In a social media post on platform X, the police clarified that this initiative also waives penalties for vehicle seizure and traffic points, although it excludes “aggravated violations.” Exempt violations include reckless driving, truck drivers overtaking in restricted areas, exceeding speed limits by over 80 km/h, and unauthorized vehicle modifications.
Authorities encouraged vehicle owners to take advantage of the discount to settle outstanding fines and emphasized the importance of following traffic regulations for road safety. Additionally, Ajman’s smart monitoring system, which began on October 1, uses AI-driven electronic gates and cameras across 26 locations to detect infractions like mobile phone use and seatbelt non-compliance while driving. The system aims to lower road accidents and enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians, explained Ajman Police Commander-in-Chief Sheikh Major General Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi.
As per federal law, penalties for distracted driving or failure to wear seatbelts include fines and black points, underscoring the importance of adhering to traffic rules.
