A senior Air India engineer lost his life in the line of duty at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The accident took place around midnight on the intervening night of November 6 and 7, when the 56-year-old engineer, identified as Ram Prakash Singh, was conducting repairs on an aircraft.
Mr. Singh, a senior superintendent service engineer, was working on the radome – the dome-like structure on the front of an aircraft – at Terminal 3 of the airport. According to police reports, he tragically slipped and fell to the ground, sustaining severe head injuries in the process.
Following the fall, Air India staff immediately rushed Mr. Singh to Medanta Hospital and then to Manipal Hospital in an urgent bid to save his life. Despite their efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
