AirAsia has tightened its carry-on baggage policy, aiming to improve the overall travel experience by streamlining boarding and ensuring timely departures. Under the new rules, passengers are limited to 7 kilograms of carry-on baggage, including one cabin bag and one small personal item.
The cabin bag, which can be a trolley or a backpack, must adhere to specific dimensions—no larger than 56 cm in height, 36 cm in width, and 23 cm in depth—and must fit in the overhead storage compartment. Personal items, such as handbags or laptop bags, are restricted to 40 cm in height, 30 cm in width, and 10 cm in depth, and should be stored under the seat.
AirAsia highlighted that bundling multiple items together does not count as a single piece of baggage, and any items purchased at the airport, with the exception of duty-free goods in Security Tamper-Evident Bags (STEB), are included in the carry-on allowance.
Passengers with baggage exceeding the weight or size limits will be required to check their items. The airline emphasized that the updated policy is designed to ensure fair use of overhead compartments, contributing to a safer and more comfortable journey for all travelers.
