A routine flight from Toronto to Dubai experienced an unusual delay after a passenger opened the cabin door and fell onto the tarmac. The incident, which occurred on Air Canada flight AC056, led to a near six-hour delay, as reported on Friday, January 12.
The event unfolded at 9pm on Monday, January 8, at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The male passenger, who was later found to be in a “state of crisis,” unexpectedly opened an aircraft door of the Boeing 777 while it was still at the gate and in the process of boarding. He fell approximately 20 feet to the ground below.
Authorities responded promptly to the situation. The passenger sustained minor injuries from the fall and was transported to a hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, he was arrested by police.
An investigation into the incident highlighted the seriousness of the breach of aircraft safety protocols. According to Global News Canada, the aircraft was preparing for takeoff when the passenger made his way to the cabin door.
