An AI-generated video falsely claims that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. underwent a hair follicle drug test, leading to misleading online discussions. According to a Rappler report, it was originally posted as satire to spread disinformation.
The claim, posted by the YouTube channel “Viral TV” on February 2, falsely asserts that Marcos took the test, with Vice President Sara Duterte allegedly laughing at the results. However, fact-checking has confirmed that the video is fake. The original footage was created by TikTok user “AMP Satire” and was labeled as AI-generated content with a disclaimer. Despite this, social media users, including the YouTube channel, shared it with misleading captions.
Malacañang has not issued any statement regarding such a test, nor is there any proof that Marcos took one. The President had previously dismissed calls for him to undergo a drug test, stating that it is irrelevant to his role in public office.
This misleading video adds to previous allegations against Marcos, including past claims made by former president Rodrigo Duterte accusing him of drug use. Fact-checking reports have repeatedly debunked similar allegations.
