Ahead of Eraserheads’ Dubai concert, Ely Buendia’s ‘Method Adaptor’ album set to release this week

Rock icon Ely Buendia is making a long-awaited return to the music scene with the official release of his new album, Method Adaptor, scheduled for November 8 at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City. In a recent press conference, the former Eraserheads frontman shared insights into the creative journey behind his album, expressing a renewed commitment to reaching his audience through his music.

Reflecting on his career, Buendia candidly admitted that there was a phase following the Eraserheads’ breakup when he was less concerned with public opinion. “There was a time after the band where I didn’t really care what people thought. I had achieved what I set out to do,” he explained, adding that age has given him a greater appreciation for his audience. “With age comes, I don’t know if it’s wisdom, but I think you appreciate what you had, even including the haters.”

Buendia described Method Adaptor as a project that has been in the works for nearly a year, with songs that he had set aside over the years finally finding a home. “Some of the songs have been in the baul for a long time,” he shared. “I wanted to do something new, something I haven’t done before. This album is what I consider the official Ely Buendia album,” distinguishing it from his 2000 release, Wanted: Bedspacer, which he sees as more of an experimental project.

The album, featuring tracks like Bulaklak sa Buwan and Tagpi-Tagping Piraso, reflects a shift toward crafting more meaningful lyrics. “I really pushed myself to write the songs with more depth,” Buendia said. He described his new music as a means of reaching out to a community he once felt disconnected from, acknowledging, “This album is sort of saying, ‘I’m still here.’”

Buendia will also be joined at the album launch by artists from his own label, Offshore Music, including Ligaya Escueta, ALYSON, Carousel Casualties, and Aviators. Fans can expect a “straightforward show,” with Buendia promising a “multi-dimensional experience” for those in attendance.

As a bonus for fans, Buendia and the Eraserheads are scheduled to perform in Dubai on December 8, 2024, as part of their “Huling El Bimbo” World Tour. The much-anticipated concert will be held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, North Hall 1, Expo City Dubai, with tickets ranging from AED 199 to AED 799, available through Virgin Megastore Tickets and Platinumlist.
