A 96-year-old man was apprehended on October 26 for a murder he allegedly committed over 30 years ago. After evading law enforcement for decades, Balog Pah-e was taken into custody in Sitio Calaoagan, Bascaran, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, where he had been living covertly.
Pah-e, originally from Poblacion, became the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Romeo Habbiling of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 14, in Lagawe, Ifugao. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort involving the Ifugao Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, Regional Intelligence Division, the 2nd Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15.
Listed as the third most wanted individual at the regional level by the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Pah-e was also ranked as the second most wanted in the province and the top most wanted in his municipality for the latter half of 2023.
According to police reports, the nonagenarian is accused of shooting his victim with a shotgun in March 1990. Following the crime, he successfully avoided capture by concealing his whereabouts until his recent arrest.
