After backlash, Rosmar Tan deletes post and issues apology for Bicol flood remarks

Content creator and aspiring politician Rosmar Tan has issued a public apology following the backlash she received for her earlier comments about the ongoing flooding in Bicol due to Tropical Storm Kristine. The vlogger had previously shared a post expressing her discomfort with the contrast between her own comfortable situation and the dire circumstances of those affected by the storm, which many netizens perceived as insensitive.

In her apology, Tan explained that her intention was not to boast about her comfort but to highlight the guilt she felt as she witnessed the devastation in Bicol through her social media feed. “Nakokonsensya kasi ako dahil ung iba hirapan na sa Bicol, tapos mga nasa bubong na. Mga aso at pusa, matatanda at mga bata puro dumadaan sa newsfeed ko,” she said in her statement.

She clarified that her post was meant to express how difficult it was to feel comfortable while knowing others were struggling to survive. “Ang gusto ko lang sabihin ay parang ang hirap maging comfy habang may mga taong inaanod at lumulutang nalang sa baha,” Tan added, apologizing for any misunderstanding caused by her previous words.

Rosmar also noted that rescue efforts in Bicol were being hampered due to the severe flooding. She asked for prayers for those affected and stated her plans to delete the post to avoid further issues. “Pasensya na kung tingin nyo mali ang pinost ko pero wala po akong intensyon na tulad ng iniisip nyo. Buburahin ko rin mamaya tong post ko para di na maging issue pa,” she concluded.
