Actor Jake Ejercito recently found himself in a virtual sparring match with a netizen who resurrected past controversies, prompting Ejercito to offer a lesson in social media etiquette.
The spat began when Ejercito, known for his roles in various television dramas including “Can’t Buy Me Love,” humorously shared a grammar test featuring his first name on social media. In response, a netizen attempted to drag Ejercito into past drama involving Ejercito’s ex-partner Andi Eigenmann and actor Albie Casiño.
The netizen’s comment referenced a previous scandal where Eigenmann initially claimed that Casiño was the father of her first child, a claim later refuted by DNA testing which revealed Ejercito as the biological father.
In his response to the netizen, Ejercito didn’t mince words: “[Netizen’s name] is a clout chaser who comments without knowing the facts and the whole story. He can’t even spell names right.”
This exchange sheds light on the actor’s past decision to remain silent during the controversy, which he attributed to protecting his daughter Ellie. “It’s all because I was trying to protect Ellie. Kasi, ‘di ba, ang daming parties involved,” Ejercito explained in a previous interview.
Despite the tumultuous history, Ejercito has maintained a stance of non-confrontation towards Casiño. “I wasn’t the one who dragged him into the issue,” he emphasized, noting the close relationship between Casiño’s family and his own.
For Casiño, the aftermath of the controversy was deeply impactful. In a candid interview, he disclosed suffering from depression and significant financial losses due to lost projects and endorsements.
Reflecting on their first meeting post-controversy, Casiño recounted approaching Ejercito with an olive branch. “I’m sure you know who I am. Wala akong problema sa ‘yo. I hope you have no problem with me personally,” Casiño shared, describing their exchange as cordial.
