The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court has ruled in favor of a woman who filed a lawsuit against a company for retracting a job offer, ordering the company to pay her Dh120,000 in compensation.
The woman had sought Dh187,000 in compensation, citing that she received a job offer from the company with a salary of Dh37,000, prompting her to resign from her previous position. Despite accepting the offer, the company failed to honor it for six months, leaving her unemployed. She provided the court with evidence, including certificates and correspondence, to support her claim.
The company had petitioned for the dismissal of the case, but the court found that the documents clearly indicated the company’s offer and the plaintiff’s acceptance. Furthermore, the court noted that the plaintiff had been left without income for three months following the acceptance of the offer.
Consequently, the court held the company responsible for the damages caused to the plaintiff and awarded her Dh120,000 in compensation for both material and moral damages, acknowledging the loss of her livelihood.
