The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced the imminent opening of 21 parks in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, just in time for Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Crafted with the diverse needs of residents in mind, these parks promise a range of recreational experiences. They boast amenities such as play areas, seating and gathering spots, barbecue areas, sports facilities, and off-leash dog zones.
Enthusiasts can indulge in various outdoor activities, from multi-use games areas (MUGA) to padel, volleyball, badminton, cricket, and parkour. Additionally, sports aficionados can utilize full and semi-basketball courts and a mid-size football pitch.
In a bid for inclusivity, two parks feature play areas designed for people of determination, ensuring accessibility for all community members.
Scheduled for opening in 2024, the 150 parks slated for development, along with the renovation of existing ones, underscore DMT’s dedication to its Liveability Strategy.
Hamad Al Mutawa, executive director of the Planning and Infrastructure Sector at DMT, emphasized the significance of these new facilities: “The opening of these 21 parks is integral to DMT’s broader initiative aimed at enhancing liveability across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.”
He further added, “These parks have been thoughtfully developed to cater to the specific needs of each neighbourhood, offering residents and visitors opportunities to connect with nature, socialise, and engage in various outdoor activities that promote wellbeing.
