Abu Dhabi to build world’s second Sphere after Las Vegas success

Abu Dhabi will soon be home to the world’s second Sphere, following the success of the first in Las Vegas. The announcement was made by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism in partnership with Sphere Entertainment Co. on Tuesday. While specific details on financing and location within the capital were not disclosed, the ambitious project marks a major addition to the UAE’s entertainment landscape.

The Las Vegas Sphere, which opened in 2023 with a $2.3 billion price tag, features a massive LED screen encircling its 17,500-seat venue, making it one of the most advanced entertainment arenas in the world. Abu Dhabi’s move to build a Sphere comes as the emirate continues to distinguish itself as a travel destination, separate from neighboring Dubai.
