Abu Dhabi authorities have issued a warning to truck and bus drivers against stopping randomly on the sides of roads, emphasizing the potential safety risks for both motorists and pedestrians.
The police highlighted that some drivers pull over for various reasons, including prayer, but doing so can be hazardous, particularly during peak hours. Such actions may lead to traffic congestion and accidents, officials said.
Heavy vehicle owners, transport companies, and bus operators have been urged to inform their drivers about the dangers of unauthorized roadside parking and to discourage any reckless behavior.
Drivers who wish to pray are advised to use nearby mosques, designated prayer areas, or safe zones instead of stopping on the roadside.
Under the Federal Traffic and Roads Law, motorists face a fine of Dh500 for parking at intersections and road bends (Article 62) and another Dh500 for failing to comply with traffic signs and instructions (Article 70).
