Abu Dhabi Police have released a video highlighting a series of accidents caused by reckless overtaking, urging motorists to drive cautiously and change lanes responsibly.
The 51-second clip, shared on Friday, features three separate collisions, all resulting from sudden lane changes. One of the most severe incidents shows a van flipping over multiple times after being struck by a car swerving abruptly.
In the first crash, a black 4WD attempted to overtake on the right without signaling, hitting another vehicle and then crashing into a truck, which overturned upon impact. Another accident involved a speeding black car shifting lanes too aggressively, forcing a 4WD to veer dangerously close to other vehicles.
The final crash captured in the video shows a white sedan suddenly cutting into the right lane and slamming into a van. The force of the impact sent the van careening into a barrier, causing it to roll over multiple times. It also struck another vehicle, pushing it across several lanes, nearly causing further collisions.
Police warned that unsafe overtaking carries a minimum fine of Dh600, while sudden lane deviations result in a Dh1,000 fine and four black points. Authorities urged drivers to be mindful of their surroundings and ensure clear visibility before making any lane changes.
