Abu Dhabi Police warn against red-light violations after three crashes caught on camera

Abu Dhabi Police have released a video highlighting three recent crashes caused by drivers running red lights, urging motorists to exercise caution at traffic signals.

The 66-second clip shared on Friday showed collisions caused by reckless behavior, including distracted driving. In one incident, an SUV turning left ignored a red light and was struck by an oncoming 4WD, causing both vehicles to spin out of control.

Another crash involved a white SUV speeding through a red light and colliding with a sedan coming from the right. A third incident showed a dark sedan hitting a 4WD after failing to observe the left-turn signal.

The police warned that red-light violations carry severe penalties: a fine of Dh1,000, 12 traffic points, and vehicle impoundment for 30 days. Drivers must pay Dh50,000 to retrieve their vehicles.

Authorities also reminded drivers to avoid distractions, noting that some offenders were caught using phones for browsing or calls while running red lights.
