Abu Dhabi Police outline safety and traffic measures for New Year’s Eve celebrations

With New Year’s Eve expected to draw large crowds across the capital, Abu Dhabi Police have finalized a coordinated operational plan designed to manage traffic movement and safeguard public spaces during the celebrations.

The strategy was developed in collaboration with strategic partners and focuses on maintaining orderly traffic flow, reducing congestion, and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors during one of the year’s busiest nights.

According to Brigadier Mohammed Dhahi Al Humeiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, a joint security framework has been prepared to cover key tourist destinations, commercial districts, and major road networks throughout the emirate during the festivities.

The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols under the Central Operations Sector said it is fully prepared to strengthen traffic safety measures, with additional precautions in place. Motorists were reminded to follow traffic laws, observe posted speed limits, avoid mobile phone use while driving, and maintain adequate safety distances between vehicles.

Authorities also cautioned against behaviors considered disruptive or unsafe, including reckless driving, excessive noise, and the use of spraying types of “party spray,” stressing the importance of complying with official guidelines during public celebrations.

Abu Dhabi Police said cooperation from road users is essential to maintaining safety and creating an environment that allows events and activities to proceed smoothly while promoting public enjoyment during the holiday.

Colonel Ali Muftah Al-Eryani, Director of the Operations Department, said the Command and Control Centre has completed its New Year preparations, equipping the operations room with advanced technologies and trained personnel, and confirmed that emergency assistance remains available around the clock through the Central Operations Room at 999.
