Abu Dhabi has secured the top spot in Numbeo’s 2024 list of the world’s safest cities, achieving the highest safety index score of 86.8 and the lowest crime rate at 13.1. This marks the eighth consecutive year the emirate has been recognized for its exceptional safety standards. Alongside Abu Dhabi, three other emirates – Ajman, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah – also ranked in the top six globally, highlighting the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to security.
Numbeo’s comprehensive analysis covered 329 cities, assessing the overall crime and safety levels. The database categorizes crime levels, considering scores lower than 20 as very low and those higher than 80 as very high. Conversely, the safety index, which evaluated 331 cities, operates on the opposite spectrum, with higher scores indicating better safety.
Abu Dhabi’s consistent top-ranking is a testament to its stringent security measures and high quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Major-General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, attributed this achievement to the city’s global leadership in security standards and its ability to attract citizens and investors through its stable and safe environment. This environment fosters positive interaction and effective cooperation, further enhancing Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a global destination.
