Abu Dhabi motorists face updated Darb toll timings and charges starting today

Starting Monday, September 1, motorists in Abu Dhabi will face new road toll rules as amendments to the Darb system officially take effect, according to the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility).

The changes aim to ease congestion during peak travel hours. While the morning toll period remains from 7am to 9am, the evening window has been extended to run from 3pm to 7pm, Monday through Saturday. As before, Sundays and official holidays remain toll-free.

Under the new system, the daily and monthly toll limits will be scrapped. Previously, private vehicles were subject to caps of Dh16 per day and monthly ceilings of up to Dh200, depending on the number of vehicles. Moving forward, every trip through a toll gate will incur a Dh4 fee with no maximum limit.

Authorities confirmed that exemptions will continue for People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees.

The Darb toll system will now be managed by Q Mobility, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), in cooperation with government bodies to ensure smooth implementation of the updated regulations.
