Abu Dhabi malls to provide covered rest areas for motorcycle delivery drivers

Abu Dhabi shopping malls will soon feature covered rest areas for motorcycle delivery drivers, offering them respite during the intense summer heat. This initiative, driven by the Joint Traffic Safety Committee under the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), includes the Integrated Transport Centre, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, and the Department of Health.

Authorities have urged mall administrators to equip these rest areas with seating, water coolers, and mobile phone charging stations, ensuring they are conveniently located near common pick-up and drop-off points for delivery workers.

In addition, the Joint Committee has issued parking permits for four buses designated as temporary rest stops in Khalifa City, Shamkhah, Al Wathbah, and Al Ain City. Permanent rest areas are also being established in four locations on Abu Dhabi Island, Khalifa City, and Shakhbout City to further support the delivery drivers.
