Abu Dhabi is building a giant AI-powered fountain that dances to Game of Thrones music

Abu Dhabi is gearing up for another world-class attraction with the launch of the Al Maryah Waterfront enhancement project—an ambitious development featuring an AI-powered fountain centerpiece, aiming to elevate the capital’s waterfront experience.

At the heart of the project will be a 30-meter-tall luminous sphere encased in cascading water and surrounded by more than 1,000 AI-controlled jets that can shoot up to 75 meters into the air. These jets will move in harmony with music composed by award-winning composer Ramin Djawadi, known for scoring Game of Thrones and Westworld. The water feature is being designed by WET, a globally renowned water design firm behind iconic fountains in Las Vegas and Dubai.

“This project will deliver iconic elements that elevate the quality of life and offer a diverse experience for visitors, while reinforcing the island’s position as a premier lifestyle destination,” said Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of UAE Investments at Mubadala.

Beyond the fountain, the development promises a sea boardwalk extension, shaded outdoor cooling systems for year-round comfort, new dining spots, and flexible public spaces ideal for events.

The announcement aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader push to become a global destination, coming on the heels of its recently revealed Disney theme park and a new ultra-luxury Bulgari development. Mubadala, the developer behind the project, already holds major investments on Al Maryah Island, including One Maryah Place, a high-end commercial complex launched with Aldar last year.
