The Department of Culture and Tourism— Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) declared a reduction in the government fees on hotels in the emirate, set to take effect from September 1.
This reduction, outlined in a circular sent to hotel and tourism establishments, is anticipated to bolster local participation in the Emirate’s hospitality offerings.
Specific changes include a 2% reduction in the tourism fee, decreasing from 6% to 4% of the customer’s total bill.
The municipality fees will remain unchanged at 4% of the bill.
Notably, the Dh15 Municipality fee charged per room per night has been removed. Additionally, the previous 6% tourism fee and 4% Municipality fee on hotel restaurants have been scrapped.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office expressed the intent behind these changes: “As part of its mandate, DCT Abu Dhabi continuously elevates the standards of the emirate’s tourism, culture, and hospitality offerings.”
Furthermore, DCT has instructed hotels to accurately report their monthly revenues within the first five business days of the subsequent month.
Hotels are obliged to provide comprehensive financial details and work closely with revenue auditors appointed by the Department. This procedure aims to ensure accurate reporting and verification of fees from previous periods.
