The UAE is set to streamline border inspections at Al Ain, a city bordering Oman, with the introduction of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) scanners. The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has recently completed a project to equip its land custom centres with these state-of-the-art devices.
The Khatm Al Shiklah and Mezyad customs centres, crucial checkpoints for tourists traveling between UAE and Oman, are now equipped with seven cutting-edge X-ray scanning devices. These devices are among the most advanced globally and are complemented by two central control and operation rooms for efficient management.
This technological leap aims to enhance the speed and smoothness of customs processing, significantly benefiting the influx of tourists and easing trade routes. The new rapid non-stop scanning technology boasts an impressive capacity, able to handle up to 100 trucks, 150 tourist vehicles, and 150 buses per hour.
This development marks the first implementation of such advanced operating systems in the UAE’s customs infrastructure.
