Abu Dhabi authorities shut down cafeteria over insect contamination in kitchen

A cafeteria in Abu Dhabi has been administratively closed after insects were discovered in the food preparation area, posing a “significant risk to public health.”

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) ordered the closure of Spot Karak Cafeteria for violating Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food safety in the Emirate and its associated regulations.

ADAFSA reported that the cafeteria’s repeated high-risk violations and failure to meet food safety standards directly impacted public health, particularly due to the presence of insects in the kitchen.

The administrative closure will remain in effect until the issues are fully resolved. The establishment will be allowed to reopen once it meets all necessary requirements and rectifies the violations.
