Four dead, including three children, in Oman due to severe weather

In Oman, four individuals, three of whom were children, have lost their lives as a result of severe weather conditions that brought heavy rainfall on Monday. The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) confirmed the tragic discovery of the children’s bodies and reported that over 100 people were rescued amid the disruptive weather affecting the Sultanate.

Flash floods triggered by the torrential rains and thunderstorms have hit various regions, showcasing the storm system’s intensity. Additionally, a woman was found deceased after being caught in the floodwaters in a valley in the Wilayat of Izki, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. While rescue teams managed to save three people from a vehicle in the overflowing valley, the woman unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has responded to the crisis by taking legal action against 36 individuals who attempted to cross valleys during the storm in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, risking their lives and others. The weather is forecasted to improve by Tuesday evening, February 13, but isolated rain is still expected in several areas of Oman.
