Authorities have initiated an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body on a wave breaker in Umm Al Quwain. The unidentified body was found on Wednesday morning, lying between the wave breaker at the beach. Despite no ID documents being found, authorities moved the body to the forensic laboratory for further examination.
Upon receiving the report, a police patrol, paramedics, and a team from the Criminal Investigations Department swiftly responded to the scene. Initial assessments suggest the deceased might be of Asian nationality. It is suspected that the man may have drowned, potentially as a result of a boat sinking incident off the coast of Sharjah a few days prior, with his body subsequently being carried by waves to the wave breaker in Umm Al Quwain.
Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, Sharjah Police are leading the investigation.
This discovery follows a recent incident on February 3, where two individuals were rescued after their boat sank amidst rough weather conditions. The National Search and Rescue Centre (NSRC) conducted the rescue operation, with the two individuals of Asian nationality in their 30s being safely transported to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah for treatment. The NSRC coordinated the rescue effort in conjunction with the UAE Coast Guard Division/Third Squadron and Air Wing of the Ministry of Interior.
