Long-standing Filipino expert in visual merchandising shares insights on professional growth

In a world where success stories often get overshadowed by the pursuit of material wealth, the narrative of Gemayel Khian Perez La Rosa stands as a beacon of inspiration. His journey, marked by faith, resilience, and determination, begins in 2007 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he embarked on a life-altering adventure, unsure of what awaited him in this new land.

Khian, as he prefers to be called, is not just a father of two and a loving husband, but also a visionary who has transformed his career through sheer dedication and hard work.

Starting as a sales staff in Delta Marketing Company Limited, he embraced the mantra, “A Faith without action is Dead,” which propelled him from a junior visual merchandiser to a senior manager and trainer.

“I told to myself na ‘Gagalingan ko, and I will establish my own identity to our company,’ years passing by, I achieved,” he reflects, underscoring the power of faith combined with action.

His journey wasn’t solely about personal gain. Initially motivated by the need to provide for his family and the dream of meeting his biological parents, Khian’s perspective evolved over time.

“But the most important reason why I worked abroad, is that someday I can meet my biological parents in God’s perfect time,” he shares with The Global Filipino Magazine, revealing a deeper, more personal aspiration fueling his endeavors.

A calling to serve

Khian’s story is also about finding purpose in every step. His previous role as a service crew member in a fast-food chain wasn’t just a job; it was an opportunity to be a voice for the less fortunate, a trait that he carried into the retail industry.

“I became the voice of those people that needs food… and it gives me a privilege to enter in Retail Industry,” he recounts, highlighting his innate desire to serve others.

In every role, Khian sees an opportunity to grow, learn, and impact lives.

“Whatever job or work that I have weather small or big position, for as long as I enjoyed and have a peace of mind… Struggles and hardship are always there, no exemption,” he explains.

This mindset reflects his unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth, rooted in his faith and community.

Khian’s journey is also a testament to the power of hope and perseverance. Alone in a foreign land, he found solace in his faith.

“I always hold to his promise that he will never leave me nor forsake me,” he says, attributing his successes and trials to divine guidance.

His experience serves as a reminder that faith, coupled with determination, can move mountains.

Looking ahead, Khian envisions settling temporarily in the Philippines with his family, nurturing their small business, and giving back to the community while awaiting a potential move to the United States.

“We entrusted everything to Him,” he says, reflecting his unwavering trust in a higher plan for his family’s future.

Embracing life’s journey with faith and courage

Khian’s story is a powerful message to anyone facing uncertainty or hardship.

“Hold on to the promise of the Lord,” he advises, encouraging others to use their struggles as a source of strength and faith.

His journey, marked by both tears and triumphs, is a vivid illustration of what can be achieved when faith and action go hand in hand.

In the words of Khian, “Walang trabahong hindi nakakapagod… Just pause and breathe, think about how you started and how you got to where you are today.”
