OFW robbed of P400,000 worth of valuables in Batangas by Salisi Gang

A 65-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), Elizabeth Reyes, fell victim to an alleged robbery by members of the Salisi Gang at Rose and Grace Restaurant in Barangay Poblacion 1, Batangas, last Friday, January 12.

Reyes, a widow from Parañaque City, was having lunch with her companions when the incident occurred. According to police reports, she momentarily left her bag under the watch of a companion to use the restroom. Upon her return, she found her bag missing. The stolen items included two cellphones, a diamond ring, a wallet with P22,000 cash, earrings, various IDs, a Wells Fargo Bank debit card, health vaccine cards, and a pair of Balenciaga sunglasses. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at P400,000.

The police, after reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the restaurant, identified the suspects escaping in a white Toyota Vios heading south. The car’s license plate number is still unknown, and efforts to track down the suspects are underway.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of individuals in public spaces and the growing boldness of criminal gangs like the Salisi Gang. The police urge the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
