Dubai’s Public Prosecution has announced stringent penalties for drivers involved in hit-and-run accidents. In a recent statement, the authority emphasized that drivers who fail to stop after causing an accident, or flee the scene where there are injured individuals, will face severe consequences.
The imposed fines for such offences are substantial, starting at Dh20,000. Additionally, offenders may face jail time, underscoring the seriousness with which the Dubai authority is treating these violations.
The law mandates that drivers involved in accidents must not only stop but also provide essential assistance to any injured parties. Furthermore, these incidents must be reported to the nearest police station within a six-hour window from the time of the accident.
