Six Filipino children orphaned after parents die in Michigan car crash

Six Filipino children have been left without parents following a fatal car crash in Michigan on January 6.

Ryan and Jen Ambrosio, a married couple, met with tragedy on the Lodge Freeway around 1:30 a.m. last Saturday. Their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a car driven by suspected carjackers. The suspects were reportedly trying to escape the police at the time of the accident.

The incident began when the suspect driver almost collided with a patrol car in a parking lot, as per Michigan State Police. When the troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading to the tragic crash. This information was released in a Michigan State Police advisory notice via X, previously known as Twitter.

The Ambrosios, who were parents to six young children, aged between 2 to 9 years old, sadly did not survive the impact.

In response to this heart-wrenching incident, a GoFundMe campaign was launched by the family. The campaign has seen a tremendous outpouring of support, raising over $300,000 thus far. The description on the campaign page highlights the profound shock and grief experienced by their families, friends, church, and community groups. It emphasizes that the most affected by this tragedy are the Ambrosios’ young children.

The funds raised are earmarked for the support and upbringing of the orphaned children. The GoFundMe page further assures that the Ambrosios’ extended family is dedicated to ensuring that the children are brought up together in a secure and loving environment.

Michigan State Police are currently investigating the incident. Charges against the suspects involved in the crash are expected to be brought forward to local prosecutors after the completion of the inquiry.
