UAE carriers Etihad, Emirates, among world’s safest, reveals AirlineRatings.com

The UAE’s airlines have achieved a significant milestone by being ranked among the world’s 20 safest airlines of 2023. This remarkable recognition spans both full-fledged and budget carriers in the UAE.

Leading aviation safety and product rating agency, AirlineRatings.com, has listed flydubai, Air Arabia, and Wizz Air in the top 20 safest low-cost airlines. Additionally, UAE’s prominent airlines, Etihad Airways and Emirates, have secured their places among the safest full-fledged airlines.

This prestigious list for budget carriers also includes international names such as AirAsia, Allegiant, Air Baltic, easyjet, Frontier, Jetstar Group, Jetblue, Indigo, Ryanair, Scoot, Southwest, Spicejet, Spirit, Vueling, Vietjet, Volaris, and Westjet. The full-fledged category features other global giants like Qantas, Air New Zealand, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air, Alaska Airlines, EVA Air, Virgin Australia/Atlantic, Cathay Pacific Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, SAS, United Airlines, Lufthansa/Swiss Group, Finnair, British Airways, KLM, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.

The evaluation encompassed 385 airlines, scrutinizing factors such as incident and crash records over the past two and five years, respectively, audits by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), EU banned lists, and fleet age.

AirlineRatings’ Editor-in-Chief, Geoffrey Thomas, emphasized that while all airlines experience daily incidents, the defining factor of a safe airline is how its flight crew handles these occurrences. He noted that these incidents are often related to aircraft or engine manufacturing, rather than airline operational problems.
