Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) has renamed its popular noontime show on GMA Network. The show, formerly known as “Eat Bulaga,” will now be called “Tahanang Pinakamasaya.” This change follows a recent court decision involving the show’s original name.
The Marikina Regional Trial Court ruled in favor of the original hosts of “Eat Bulaga,” Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, collectively known as TVJ. The court recognized them as the originators of the “Eat Bulaga” trademark and instructed TAPE to cease using the name.
Acknowledging the court’s decision, Isko Moreno, the current host along with Paolo Contis, announced on the January 6 episode of the newly named “Tahanang Pinakamasaya” that they would respect the ruling. Moreno emphasized the show’s commitment to positivity and entertainment, stating, “Laging good vibes lang at love, love, love dahil ang mahalaga, hangga’t nandiyan po kayo, kami ni Paolo at ang aming mga kasama dito sa ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ tuluy-tuloy ang tulong at saya at sorpresa, all unli-sorpresa.”
The episode also featured support for the new phase of the show, with audience members displaying banners and balloons, including a notable one reading, “We stand with TAPE.”
Meanwhile, TAPE has updated its Facebook page with a new cover photo reflecting the show’s new title. However, the hosts were careful not to mention “Eat Bulaga” or display any related logos during the broadcast.
On the other side, TVJ celebrated their legal victory on TV5’s noontime show, with Vic Sotto remarking, “Eto ang totoo. Eto ang tinadhana. Eto ang tunay na ‘Eat Bulaga.'”
TAPE has expressed its intention to appeal the court ruling.
