The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an important update for users of the Nol card, a widely used payment method for public transport in the city.
According to a Khaleej Times report, starting January 15, the minimum amount required to top-up a Nol card will be increased to Dh20. This change marks a significant increase from the current minimum top-up amount of Dh5.
The Nol card is a vital component of Dubai’s public transport system, offering a convenient way for commuters to pay for a variety of services. These include the Dubai Metro, buses, trams, waterbuses, taxi fares, and parking fees. In addition, the card is accepted for entry into Dubai’s public parks, the Etihad Museum, and is usable in over 2,000 shops, restaurants, and stores throughout the city.
To facilitate easy top-ups, the RTA has made available multiple channels including ticket vending machines, solar-powered top-up machines, and the Nol Pay app, specifically designed for virtual cards.
In tandem with this change, RTA continues to promote its Nol Plus programme. This loyalty and rewards initiative is designed to benefit regular users of the Nol card. Members of the programme accrue points and enjoy special perks each time they use their card across various services like the Dubai Metro, taxis, public buses, and parking. The accumulated points can be redeemed for top-ups or used for discounts at selected retail and dining outlets.
