Cold front hits UAE: Mountain areas to experience lows of 8°C

The UAE is set to experience a significant drop in temperature, accompanied by rainfall in various parts of the country. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts cloudy skies with rain, particularly over coastal and northern areas. This change in weather is notable, as it contrasts with the typically arid climate of the region.

The humidity is expected to increase during the night and into Friday morning, particularly in some internal areas. Light to moderate winds are also forecasted, which may lead to blowing dust. Conditions at sea are anticipated to be rough in the Arabian Gulf and range from moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.

Temperature fluctuations are expected across different regions. Abu Dhabi will see temperatures ranging from 16°C to 25°C, while Dubai will experience slightly warmer conditions, with temperatures between 18°C and 26°C. The most significant temperature drop will be in the mountainous regions, where it could go as low as 8°C.

This weather pattern marks a departure from the UAE’s usually milder winter conditions. According to Dr. Ahmed Habib of the NCM, in a recent interview with Khaleej Times, both December and January this year have seen higher average temperatures and lower levels of rainfall compared to previous years.
