Visitors to Flamingo Beach in Ras Al Khaimah can no longer fire up charcoal grills along the shoreline, following a ban that officials say is meant to keep the waterfront clean and safe.
According to the emirate’s Public Services Department, the prohibition covers both barbecuing and the burning of charcoal at the beach. The rule has been in force since September 10, 2026.
Officials framed the decision as a way to maintain the beach’s appearance while safeguarding the public, calling on those who visit to help keep the site clean, beautiful and safe for everyone.
The timing lands as people across the UAE start planning for the cooler season, a stretch when picnics, seaside gatherings and barbecues typically pick up. For anyone mapping out a trip to Flamingo Beach, that now means leaving the grill at home.
The department did not lay out any penalties for those who ignore the restriction.
