More than 100 overseas Filipino workers and their dependents sat down for free medical consultations and screenings in Abu Dhabi on August 18, 2026, as the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) mounted its “Beat the Heat Campaign: Stay Cool, Stay Healthy this Summer” alongside Al Ahalia Hospital-Kabayan Clinic.
At the heart of the day were the no-cost health services: workers could consult a general practitioner, have their vital signs taken, undergo eye testing, and get their glucose levels measured. Organizers built the campaign around guarding Filipinos against the health dangers that come with the UAE’s hottest stretch of the year, while easing the barriers many workers face in reaching routine care.
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver used the gathering to urge workers to put their health first. “I encourage our OFWs to always take care of their physical well-being while working overseas and to seek timely medical attention whenever needed. Your health is essential to your safety, productivity, and overall well-being,” he said.
The clinic setup sat alongside a lineup of government services brought directly to attendees, among them contract verification, Assistance to Nationals, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Social Security System, and Pag-IBIG.
Banco de Oro added a financial component, running money-management sessions and helping workers open BDO Kabayan Accounts. Rounding out the day, Overseas Absentee Voting personnel were stationed to register workers and update their voter records ahead of the 2028 National and Local Elections.
