This Filipino couple turned Zumba into a Dubai movement that draws hundreds to every class

Walk into any packed fitness hall in Dubai on a weekend, and the energy tells you something the brochures never do: people don’t come back for the calories burned. They come back for the room. For the strangers who become regulars, the beat that pulls a tired body off the couch, the sense of belonging to something. In a city built on ambition, George and Christine Perez — known across Dubai’s fitness scene as FitnessDuo Joeski & Tin — figured that out early and built a career on it.

Christine started teaching Zumba in 2013. George followed in 2016. What began as a shared love of dance and movement grew, class by class, into a mission bigger than either of them expected: getting people active, confident, and connected. Over the years, that mission has reached thousands across the UAE.

Making history through movement

George’s turning point came with a title no Filipino had held before him in the region — the first Filipino Zumba Jammer in the Middle East. It’s more than a personal credential. As a Jammer, he brings choreography, musicality, and teaching to other instructors, shaping the people who shape the classes. The recognition landed as a proud marker for the wider Filipino fitness community, proof that a kid with rhythm and discipline could set the standard others follow.

Christine built alongside him rather than behind him. Together they became organizers and hosts of large-scale events, and since 2022 they’ve run their own Zumba Masterclasses in Dubai, each drawing roughly 200 to 300 participants. The numbers matter less than what fills the room: music, friendship, community, and unmistakable Filipino passion.

Beyond the studio

Their reach stretches past the weekend crowds. The couple runs corporate fitness programs for major UAE companies, walking into offices to get employees moving, decompressing, and connecting — proof, they’d argue, that wellness and productivity aren’t rivals. They also teach regular group classes at GymNation UAE, where the faces in front of them span dozens of nationalities.

The long game

Behind every class sits a plain conviction: fitness brings people together. George and Christine carry the traits Filipinos are known for — hard work, humility, resilience, genuine care — and their arc underlines that none of it happened overnight. It was built by showing up, improving, and serving the community when the work got hard.

From two instructors to fixtures of Dubai’s fitness world, the FitnessDuo turned a passion into a platform. And the story is still moving — one beat, one step, one class at a time.
