Authorities in Mandaluyong have apprehended a man accused of fatally stabbing an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) on December 22. The suspect, Art Tondo, was arrested on December 24 in Addition Hills, Mandaluyong.
The victim, Candice Seming, was vacationing in Antipolo at the time of the attack. According to Antipolo Police Chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo, Tondo showed no remorse at the time of his arrest. He even went on to collect his salary as if nothing had happened.
The police from Antipolo and Mandaluyong collaborated to make the arrest. They also found the murder weapon, an army knife, discarded in a nearby sewer. Seming suffered 26 stab wounds, a fact which will heavily influence the murder charges, as stated by Manongdo.
Tondo, who previously worked for Seming’s family and was relieved due to negative experiences, expressed his apologies to the victim’s family. He admitted to being intoxicated and having an altercation with Seming at the time of the incident.
The victim’s family expressed relief over Tondo’s arrest, acknowledging the swift action of the media and police in capturing the suspect.
