Authorities have executed Abdul Rahman bin Saleh, a Saudi citizen, following his conviction for the brutal murder of his mother and sister in Saudi Arabia. The execution took place on Saturday in the holy city of Medina, as confirmed by the Saudi Interior Ministry.
Saleh was found guilty of fatally stabbing his mother and sister and then burning their bodies in a horrific crime. According to the ministry, this heinous act was an attempt by Saleh to hide the murders and his addiction to prescription tablets.
After his arrest, Saleh underwent interrogation and was subsequently referred to a competent court, which found him guilty of the double murder. The verdict was upheld by higher courts, including the appeals and supreme courts, and received final approval through a royal order.
Details regarding the timing of the murders or Saleh’s motives were not disclosed.
Saudi Arabia enforces the death penalty in various severe crimes, including murder, terrorism, drug smuggling, and trafficking. This execution is part of a series of recent capital punishments in the country. In August, another Saudi man, Bandr Al Dousri, was executed in Riyadh for torturing and killing his wife. In July, a Saudi man and his sister were executed in Mecca after being convicted of murdering their parents and two brothers.
