Pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are married, a representative for Swift confirmed, capping months of speculation about the year’s most anticipated celebrity wedding.
The couple wed Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City in a ceremony officiated by comedian Adam Sandler, according to a statement Swift’s representative provided to CBS News. The pair forewent a traditional wedding party: Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her “man of honor,” while Kelce’s brother, retired NFL lineman Jason Kelce, stood as best man.
The celebration drew about 1,000 guests. A source with knowledge of the event told NBC News that roughly 1,100 people were expected and that attendees received nondisclosure agreements alongside electronic invitations, with no phones permitted inside. Swift’s wedding dress was created by Christian Dior Haute Couture, her representative said. After the ceremony, a video screen outside the arena lit up with a “Just Married” message.
Guests spotted arriving included actors Hugh Grant, Jason Sudeikis and Ethan Hawke, soccer figure Abby Wambach, broadcaster Joe Buck, musician Benson Boone and NFL player Cooper Kupp.
The venue capped a relationship that began publicly three years earlier, after Kelce attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Kansas City and mentioned on his “New Heights” podcast that he had hoped to give her a friendship bracelet. Ahead of the wedding, the couple donated $26 million to 20 charities, according to Swift’s publicist, many of them in areas where the two have personal ties.
