OFW hurt after car loses control, plunges into Isabela rice field

An Overseas Filipino Worker suffered minor injuries on June 19, 2026, after losing control of a vehicle along a curve in Alicia, Isabela, sending the car off the road and into a rice field, the Philippine National Police reported.

The OFW had been driving northbound on Bypass Road in Brgy. San Fernando at roughly 7:50 a.m. when the vehicle lost traction and veered off course. A second passenger was also hurt in the crash. Both were treated for minor injuries and brought to a hospital by rescue personnel who responded to the scene.

Two police officers passing through the area on their way to duty reached the wreck before emergency responders and stayed with the injured pair until help arrived. They were identified as PCMS Joanne V. Apostol of the Santiago City Police Office and PCpl Elmer Tomas of the Jones Police Station.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. tied the response to the force’s public service mandate. “Our duty goes beyond time and place. We are always ready to help those in need. Ang serbisyo ng pulis ay serbisyong may malasakit at pananagutan,” he said. He added, “We stand ready to assist the public in times of need. Ang paglilingkod ng pulis ay may kasamang puso at dedikasyon.”
