The ConGen’s Cup 2023, also known as the 6th UAE MTB Cup, recently concluded at Mithriff Park in Dubai, UAE. Organized by UAE MTB Jumeirah in cooperation with the Philippine Consul General in Dubai & Northern Emirates, this event was a vibrant showcase of cycling talent and community spirit.
The event was honored by the presence of Renato Duenas, the Philippine Consul General in Dubai & Northern Emirates, and Alfonso Ver, the Philippine Ambassador to UAE. It witnessed the participation of 322 bikers from all over the UAE, alongside an estimated 200+ spectators. The event was supported by 13 sponsors, including Cycle2Cycle, Bikeera, The Cycle Hub, Hero, and others.
The ConGen’s Cup featured 19 race categories, catering to different age groups and bike types. This ranged from MTB Bike Men and Women categories to Folding Bike and Fat Bike categories, with each category awarding the top 3 winners. Additionally, there were special categories for non-Filipino and other nationalities.
The event also hosted a ‘Best in Muse’ contest, where Danna Frianeza from Dahon Folding Bike was crowned Miss UAE MTB 2023. The ‘Best in Jersey Contest’ was another highlight, with the One Al Ain Group from Abu Dhabi taking the first place.
Frankie Boton from UAE MTB Jumeirah shared inspiring words, “Para sa mga Kababayan natin dito sa Dubai in all walks of Life, madali lng po ang bumuo ng isang grupo pero ang mahirap po dun ay ang pagsustain para mapanatili sya o para lalong mapalaki sya.”
He emphasized the challenge of sustaining and growing a group.
Further, he stated, “At once po na may nabuo na tayong grupo, gamitin po sana natin sya sa mga makabuluhang bagay para makatulong o makagawa tayo ng mabuti sa iba o sa ating community.”
Boton highlighted the group’s commitment to meaningful actions for the benefit of others and the community. He also shared their involvement in social and charity works like beach and desert safaris cleaning and Rides for a Cause, demonstrating their dedication to making a positive impact.
