Dubai now issuing 30- and 60-day tourist visas within 48 hours

Travellers planning a trip to Dubai can now expect their single-entry tourist visa to come through in as little as 48 working hours once their paperwork is complete, a timeline the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) says reflects a broader push to speed up services and ease the way for arrivals from abroad.

The faster turnaround applies to the single-entry permit, which is granted for stays of either 30 or 60 days.

For travel agencies handling these applications, the change is already evident in day-to-day operations. Sherif Al Farram, CEO of “Sherif House” travel agency, said that the issuance of tourist visas is usually done in record time, pointing out that a large number of applications submitted by the agency are accepted in less than a day after completing the procedures.

Al Farram tied the rollout to seasonal demand, noting that the timing of the measures alongside the busy summer travel window is meant to match the surge of visitors heading to the emirate. He also argued that a smooth, efficient permit system strengthens international trust in Dubai and draws more tourists in.

On the documentation side, GDRFA listed a personal photo, a copy of a valid passport, and — for certain nationalities — the applicant’s home-country national ID card among the items needed before processing begins. The authority laid out the requirements and steps in an explanatory clip posted to its Instagram account, where it said applications can be lodged through accredited tourism offices using a streamlined process built for a quick, hassle-free experience.

The directorate framed the update as part of an ongoing effort to keep Dubai competitive as a global destination, pointing to its investment in digital tools that smooth the traveller’s path from the moment of application to touchdown, and to the brisk expansion the emirate’s tourism industry continues to record.
