Filipino singer Matty Juniosa finishes fourth in Britain’s Got Talent grand finale

Filipino singer Matty Juniosa placed fourth among the twelve acts who competed in the live grand finals of Britain’s Got Talent Season 19, ending a run that had drawn steady attention throughout the competition. The contest played out before a UK audience on the evening of Saturday, May 30, 2026, which fell in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, in the Philippines.

For his closing number, Juniosa delivered a reworked take on Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” delivered in an arrangement he had reshaped for the occasion.

Though the trophy slipped from his grasp, the Filipino performer had already built considerable momentum across earlier rounds. His audition set him apart when he tackled Prince’s “Purple Rain,” a rendition that won over both the panel and the crowd. Simon Cowell responded by hitting his Golden Buzzer, sending Juniosa straight into the semifinals.

The semifinal stage brought another surge of attention as he powered through Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” In an unusual turn, a second Golden Buzzer came his way, this time from judge Amanda Holden.

The £250,000 top prize and a slot at this year’s Royal Variety Performance went to the Hawkstone Farmers Choir, who pulled in the heaviest share of the public vote. The drone art outfit Celestial claimed second, while the dance pairing of Anastasiia and Salsa took third.

Behind Juniosa in the standings came Rafferty Coope, Sonny Green, Ted Hill, the collaborative act Sadeck Berrabah and LMA, Fabian Fox, and Liwei Yang.

Juniosa is no stranger to competition, having previously taken part in Idol Philippines back in 2019.
